Baby why me….?
This song is stuck in my head and whenever I listen to it, I just want to go outside and just sprint until I pass out.
So I got an email from the Nike’s Woman Half marathon reminding me to make sure I have all my running supplies, and guess what their message was?
“Good job guys on making it through the hot summer. All that training will pay off, you’re almost there”
Well something along those lines. And guess how much I ran. Yup… zero. So I had to force myself to run on monday. I ended up running with Carl on the bike train. We were only going to run 3 or 4 miles, at least that is what I had in mind. Usually when I start running again, that is my bench mark to start at. We ended up running 2.5 miles out, and I thought that would be the farthest we would run, but for some reason we were still feeling good. So we ran another mile out, and so began the trek back home. It actually wasn’t too bad. I just didn’t have a super strong finish. But I ran it in about 70 mins, probably less. As long as I keep my 10 min mile pace when I am starting out I am good.
Day 2 was today. My joints haven’t fully recovered from day 1 so we only ran 5 miles but at a faster pace. I think it was at least an 8 min mile pace, lol or that is what it felt like. On the way back, we got passed up by this super tall guy, he was running pretty fast, about 3/5’s faster than us, Carl ended up chasing after him and left me behind, but then when we got to the drinking fountain he was dead and needed a little rest. The rest of the way back I just kept my steady kinda fast past, but was breathing super hard the last mile. The high school me would kick my ass.
It turns out today there was a practice track meet that is held annually at my old high school. I saw all these high schoolers and it made me want to race them, but I knew most of them would kick my ass. Maybe not the freshmen, but what is the fun in beating them. It was also “Back to School Night” and there were a ridiculous amount of parents and high school kids. Some either look like 13 while others look like they could be in college. It is kinda a weird dichotomy. (lol i think i used that word right).
All the cheer leaders or kids that were hosting asked if we needed help. Do we look like parents? Or high schoolers? Turns out this guy parked his car in front of a bus in the bus lane and the driver was pissed. he asked us if we knew who parked there cuz i guess he couldn’t get out. Well he had room in the back, but the thing is, buses aren’t supposed to back out unless they have someone behind them guiding them. At least thats how it is for the unitrans buses. He complained so much to us, and when we were walking away, he asked us if we knew how to drive? And if we knew that it would be stupid to park there. I was like… wtf, I am not a high school student, but he didn’t hear me and continued to bitch. Whatever, I guess if anything I still look young.
I should probably run one more time…. We’ll see how it goes.
Dear Santa,
All I want for xmas is this. A Affa x Nike x Undercover Gyakusou hoodie. Sure its only exclusive in japanese, and is probably limited edition, but man is it sexy. It has thumb holes!!! And i always wanted a hoodie that would be good for running. Just pick one up for me when you’re in Japan. I have been a good man this year.
