Tribute of Light for 9/11

A team of 30 electricians worked through the night yesterday to prepare for the 10th anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks which takes place on Sunday. The ‘Tribute in Light’ is made up of 88 bulbs which project two blue beacons of light up into the heavens that is visible from a 60 mile radius. The tribute will be powered on for the entire day and night on Sunday to remember the 2,753 people who died on September 11, 2001. The National September 11 Memorial and Museum is also scheduled to open on Sunday at the WTC site.

I remember the days in elementary school when I stayed out late with my friends at the park or on the playground. No worries at all.

When I think about that feeling it gives me chills, but it doesn’t have to be left in the past. Part of life is to continue to have these moments. When everything is perfect.

I wish I still had math classes. I would do something like this.

Magnificent Murals of the Day: S. Rivas painted a bunch of Calvin & Hobbes murals in the playroom of the Reynolds Home — a shelter for women and children in crisis.

Rivas says:

Working on this mural, staring at every minute detail of wattersons work, i gained a greater appreciation for [Bill Watterson’s] beautiful creations. i tried to respect the original works as much as possible, giving my full attention to even the smallest detail and trying to get the colors just right. attempting to recreate the look of watercolors using only latex paint proved to be quite difficult. i hope i did ‘em justice.
